The FaxCore Server

Microsoft .Net

Web based Fax Server Powerful Document Server Intelligent Monitoring Open SQL Database Fault Tolerant Microsoft .NET

The Brooktrout Advantage

Brooktrout Logo

FaxCore software is built for Brooktrout's TR1034 and TR114 fax boards. Brooktrout is the muscle behind FaxCore.

Quick & Easy

FaxCore Is Built IT Friendly & On .Net
It's Easy To Deploy And Non-Intrusive

The FaxCore fax server uses true 21st Century technology. It is built on the Microsoft .net platform and conforms to a web services architecture. This enables it to deliver a multititude of cost saving features while remaining user friendly.

A pure web browser interface, SIP integration, Brooktrout SR140 FoIP support, 100% Exchange compatibility, Active Directory integration, SQL compliant database, converged IP and support for Cisco's Call Manager and other leading VoIP products are all standard features. They are not extra cost components.

These are the features required in a converged world. Customers are tired of legacy technologies and legacy prices. FaxCore understands that VoIP and converged IP customers want simplicity and the lower costs associated with today's new technologies.

Faxcore's web browser interface for users and administrators means no software to deploy and you don't have to be at your PC to send a fax, or administer the system.

By leveraging ASP.NET Web Controls, the rich functionality normally associated with a Fat Client is available to both Users and Administrators through Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

There is no need to install software on your mail server.

A standard SMTP connector between your mail server and the FaxCore server means fewer problems and no barriers to upgrades.

FaxCore's SMTP Email Gateway provides email to fax functionality via direct sending to the FaxCore SMTP server, allowing you to fax enable your Exchange, Lotus Notes, or POP3 based mail server without installing any software on the server.

Faxcore Partners

FaxCore's synchronization of users against Active Directory or Domino is done without requiring any schema modifications.

This allows administrators to quickly and easily add and maintain FaxCore users and permissions via their existing directories and databases via standard LDAP queries.

FaxCore Integrated SQL Server Support

FaxCore runs on an ANSI SQL compliant database or FaxCore can attach to an external corporate SQL Server on the network to simplify backup, recovery and archiving.

FaxCore's .Net SDK offers a straight forward and simple interface, reducing application integration to a matter of hours instead of days.

FaxCore's .NET SDK has native assemblies -- no COM wrappers or type libraries need to be registered. The SDK can be used to integrate on any system with network access to the FaxCore environment. FaxCore provides web service APIs to send, receive, route, and administer fax services. Well-defined SOAP interfaces make the fax services available via XML to any enterprise platform. (Linux, MAC, Unix, Windows).

FaxCore's N-TIER ARCHITECTURE is a true third generation Fax Server Solution

The low level design of FaxCore allows for scalability and fault tolerance with distributed processing. Legacy computer fax products such as WinFax and Microsoft Fax are client-dependant first generation, while client/server products like RightFax are second generation. FaxCore is a third generation solution and the only one that conforms to the N-Tier and web service paradigm.

Faxcore's Barcode Module allows advanced faxing features like "boomerang documents"

The FaxCore fax server can be configured to scan every page of a received fax, looking for a barcode (when the Barcode Module is purchased). If a barcode is detected, the data within the barcode is stored with the fax record. The detection and decoding of barcodes on faxes can be applied to processes such as fax routing, workflow applications and provide a reliable mechanism for boomerang documents (you send it and you want it back).

FaxCore is architected with the same web services design that popular on-line retailers use to provide scalable and fault tolerant Internet based services.

FaxCore's architecture enables organizations to duplicate and spread critical system processes across multiple PCs. For example, rather than putting all fax boards into a single server, spread them out over multiple PCs, each containing 50%, 25%, 20%, etc. of the fax boards and PSTN connections, thus eliminating single points of failure. This same concept can be applied to all of the critical fax server functions: Rendering, Document Storage, Presentation Services, and Event Processing. Faxcore is Fault Tolerant and scalable without clustering.

Network Computing's Fax Server Review - Dec 2004

“For this Affordable IT article we tested fax servers from Biscom, Captaris, Castelle, Copia, Esker, FaxCore & GFI Software...We gave our Editor’s Choice award to FaxCore, because we liked its focus on Web-based administration and fax management with LDAP integration.  FaxCore 4370 installed with ease under Windows 2003 server and provided a fast path for users to authenticate to Active Directory and send and receive faxes over an HTTP interface. It also supplied a Web-browser administration tool and strong integration points with LDAP based directories, Microsoft Exchange and SMTP mail.”

“This product’s moderate price, smooth integration with Microsoft Exchange and ability to accept fax requests from e-mail delivered directly to the server gave the FaxCore 4370 a distinct edge over the other products we tested.”

“In our tests, FaxCore enabled authentication for fax services using Active Directory without a fuss. It also authenticated users from a Windows NT Domain  (NTLM) and a Lotus Domino system (LDAP). Within minutes after installing and verifying fax services, we  were using the Web interface to upload documents to personal and shared folders, and sending and receiving faxes.” Click here to download full text

From ESM Magazine

June 2004

“FaxCore offers close integration with Exchange and Outlook. You can set it up to have a FaxCore fax folder view within Outlook, so your users really do have complete integration between their faxes and their e-mails”

“FaxCore offers you the alternative of using barcodes to route inbound faxes by adding the barcode to the cover page FaxCore is extremely easy to use. …our testers were immediately able to send and receive faxes without needing either training or the online Help. “

“FaxCore has its own HTML cover page editor.  You create the page by adding ‘elements’such as free form text, lines, barcodes, images and tokens. Tokens are information that is taken from FaxCore. For example, you can add the name of the sender; the company address; the creation date of the message;  or the tracking key to identify the message.”

“To send a fax, you can use a variety of sophisticated options. Faxes can be sent to recipients from your address book or you can enter the details directly.  You can choose to send the fax as a fax or as an e-mail.  The fax contents can be drawn from one or more documents, from your own document folders or from the shared documents.”

“In an effort to eliminate any IT concerns about installing third-party software on the e-mail server, the Microsoft Exchange Fax Connector is installed within FaxCore and a new ‘Route’ is created on the e-mail server. The Route, created with native Connectors in Exchange, simply forwards messages destined for a fax address to the IP address of the FaxCore server. The desired result of fax-enabling the e-mail system is achieved without installing any software on the mail server.” Click here to download full text

“FaxCore 4370 tightly integrates with  Microsoft Exchange, Internet Information Server and Microsoft’s .Net technology. The operating system of choice is Windows Server 2003. That said, end users don’t have to be married to those Microsoft technologies. FaxCore provides a Web-based client that works completely within Internet Explorer; no client software is needed.”

“FaxCore also promises to save additional money by routing faxes during low-cost phone billing times, deferring faxes until the middle of the night, if necessary. When possible. FaxCore will route faxes via IP, eliminating phone charges altogether.” Click here to download full text
